Menopause & Perimenopause
At Whiteley Health, we take a personalised approach to menopause and perimenopause care. Your consultation provides the time and space to discuss your symptoms, menstrual changes, lifestyle and wider health, before exploring appropriate treatment options.
Where clinically suitable, this may include hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and other treatments, alongside practical guidance around nutrition, exercise, sleep and lifestyle. Treatment is individualised and reviewed regularly as your needs change.

Menopause & Perimenopause
Do I need blood tests to diagnose perimenopause?
Not always. For many people aged 45 or over, menopause and perimenopause can be identified based on symptoms and changes to periods rather than routine hormone blood tests. Your clinician will determine whether any investigations are appropriate for you.
Can I start HRT during perimenopause?
Yes. You do not necessarily need to wait until your periods have stopped before considering HRT. The appropriate treatment and regimen will depend on your symptoms, whether you are still having periods and your individual medical history.
What type of HRT will I be prescribed?
There is no single HRT that suits everyone. Treatment may involve oestrogen alone or oestrogen alongside a progestogen, depending on factors including whether you have a uterus and where you are in your menopause journey.
Will I need follow-up appointments?
Yes. Menopause treatment is reviewed to assess how well it is working, discuss any side effects and make adjustments where appropriate. NHS guidance recommends a review around 3 months after starting or changing HRT, followed by ongoing reviews.
